Everything you might want to know before you secure your hex on the America 250 map — how it works, what you receive, and how to manage your place on the monument.

What is America 250?

America 250 is a digital living monument marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, 1776 to 2026. On an interactive map of each state, you can secure a hexagonal coordinate and inscribe your name, your story, and a photo — a permanent place on the map that stays tied to you and your family. America 250 is an independent commemorative project, created by a private founder, and is not affiliated with any government body or official anniversary commission.

What do I actually receive?

You receive your own hexagon on your state's map — displayed with your name and story for others to discover — along with a downloadable Certificate of Legacy commemorating your place on the monument.

What's the difference between a Basic and a Featured inscription?

Both a Basic and a Featured inscription give you everything that matters: your hex on your state's map, your name and story, and your Certificate of Legacy. A Featured inscription adds three things on top:

Highlighted placement — your hex stands out visually on the map, drawing the eye of people exploring your state, so your story gets noticed.

A "Why This Story Matters" section — an additional space to explain the deeper meaning behind your inscription: the legacy, the lesson, or the reason this place and this story deserve to be remembered.

A link of your choice — you can add a link to your inscription. This makes Featured especially well-suited to those who want to point visitors somewhere meaningful — a family business, a memorial page, a cause, a personal site, or anything you'd like to share alongside your story.

In short, Basic preserves your story beautifully; Featured gives it greater prominence and room to say more, with a way to connect people to whatever matters most to you.

Can I add my photo and story later?

Yes. You can secure your hex now and complete your story and add your photo anytime afterward from your account — there's no rush to finish everything at checkout.

Can I edit my hex after purchase?

Yes. Your display name, your story, and your photo can be updated anytime from your account.

Can someone else take my hex?

No. Once a hex is secured, it's yours. It is not released to anyone else.

Can I inscribe more than one hex?

Yes. Many people inscribe one hex for themselves and additional hexes in honor of a parent, a grandparent, or someone whose story they want to keep on the map. Each hex is its own permanent coordinate.

How do I pay, and is it secure?

Payments are processed securely through PayPal, one of the most trusted payment processors in the world. You can pay with a PayPal account or any major credit or debit card — no PayPal account required.

All payment details are handled entirely by PayPal on their own secure, encrypted systems. We never see, collect, or store your card number or financial information at any point — none of it touches our site. You complete your payment safely through PayPal, and we simply receive confirmation that it went through.

How much does it cost?

An inscription is a one-time payment — you pay once, and your place on the map is yours forever. There's no subscription and no recurring charge.

There are two options:

A Basic inscription is $99, and a Featured inscription (with highlighted placement on your state's map) is $149.

These are founder prices, available through July 11, 2026. After that date, the price for new inscriptions rises to $199 for Basic and $399 for Featured. Whatever price you inscribe at is locked in — it's a single payment, and nothing changes afterward.

After I pay, will I be charged again later?

No. It's a single, one-time payment — you pay once and your inscription is yours forever, with no subscription and no future charges. The higher price shown for after July 11, 2026 is simply what new inscriptions will cost then; it's never an additional charge to you.

Is this a physical product?

It's digital. Your hex and your story live permanently on the map. Your Certificate of Legacy is yours to download, print, and frame at home.

Who can see my story?

The display name and story you choose to share appear publicly on the map for others to discover. Your email and account details remain private.

When does my state open?

States open in waves throughout 2026, leading up to July 4th. If your state hasn't opened yet, you can join the waitlist and we'll notify you the moment it does — before the best hexes are taken.

What is the Certificate of Legacy?

An official commemorative certificate marking your place on the America 250 monument, featuring your hex, your state, and the 1776 ★ 2026 mark — ready to download, print, and frame.

I didn't receive my confirmation email. What now?

Check your spam or junk folder first — emails from new senders sometimes land there. Adding [email protected] to your contacts helps future messages reach your inbox. If you still can't find it, sign in with your email and the magic link will resend, or reset your password from the login page.

What kind of photo can I upload?

A photo that means something to you — a family portrait, a place you love, a moment you want to keep. The photo appears alongside your story on the map. JPEG or PNG works; we'll handle the rest.

How is my personal information handled?

Your email and account details are private and never sold. We use them only to manage your account, deliver your Certificate of Legacy, and notify you about your hex. The full Privacy Policy is linked in the footer.
