The County That Raised Us

My family has been in Contra Costa County since before I was born. My grandfather worked around Martinez, my dad drove back and forth for years for whatever job kept the lights on, and my mother somehow made a small house feel full even when money was tight. I grew up seeing Mount Diablo from the road and never thought much about it until I left for a while. Funny how the place you wanted to get away from becomes the place you keep talking about later. This hex is for my parents, my grandparents, and the county that raised us even when we didn’t know it was doing that.
