Owner's Story
My dad drove a city bus in Richmond for twenty-nine years.
He knew the regulars by stop, not always by name. The woman with the blue lunch bag. The old man who rode downtown every Wednesday. The college kid who always ran late and still somehow made it.
He left the house before sunrise most mornings and came home smelling like diesel and rain. We did not have a lot, but he never missed a birthday, never missed a school play, never made us feel like his tiredness was our fault.
Virginia was where he worked, raised us, and quietly became the kind of man people depended on.
