Owner's Story
My grandfather drove a delivery route through western Virginia for most of his working life.
He knew the bends in the road, the gas stations with decent coffee, and the houses where dogs came out before people did. He carried a clipboard, a thermos, and a roll of hard candy he said was for emergencies, though mostly he gave it to kids.
He never made much money, but he knew half the county by porch, mailbox, or gravel road.
When I think of Virginia, I think of him coming home with dust on his pants and stories from the road.
